what lies within our blackened hearts
in grumous reverie
disguised by day as angel’s sons
and daughters pieties
as false we smile through dim façade
that veils our opaque eyes.
So fast we clutch the ebbing hope
to never lose disguise.
To see the mad reflection
of our darkest mysteries
as mirrored revelation
in those we yearn to please;
the cuts would grieve us deeper
than any knife would surely wield
and so we shutter back ourselves
that truth will never yield.
It’s better that we do not know
each others' souls entire
lest by our rite we lose the grip
that holds us from the fire.
Our only true salvation
is to keep the lesson pure
to teach our souls the holy role
that others must endure.
